1. Nazca Lines -Peru
These massive sand drawings date back around 500 BC to 200 BC when the Nazca civilization flourished in Peru. This is one of the highly mysterious places on earth which has baffled everyone. Some believe that these were drawn to attract God’s attention while some think these serve as landmarks in the vast desert. It sure is creepy.
2. Superstition Mountains- Arizona
These mountains are believed to be holding secret gold mines according to legend. It joins the long list of mysterious places of our Earth. Here, the Lost Dutchman’ s Gold Mine was discovered by James Waltz, however, nobody has lived alive to tell its location. Native Americans believe these mountains are gateways to hell.
3. Lake Anjikuni – Nunavut, Canada
This creepy looking lake is regarded as one of the most mysterious places on Earth. When an entire Inuit village disappeared one evening and not a single soul was left, this place was dubbed The Village of The Dead.
4. Point Pleasant – West Virginia
During the 1960s locals started reporting a seven foot tall, red eyed monster which caused this place to be counted amongst the top mysterious places on Earth. In 1967 a bridge collapsed here in which 46 lives were lost after which the monster sightings stopped. Till this day people report seeing aliens here. Creepy right?
5. Loch Ness, Scotland
The creepy lake monster Nessie, nickname to the Loch Ness monster is one of biggest unsolved mysterious sightings. There have been several inconclusive pictures with speculations that this is a dinosaur or serpent which has become landlocked in the highlands.
6. Bermuda Triangle, North Atlantic Ocean
One of the most notorious and mysterious places on Earth that ever existed is this triangular area in the North Atlantic Ocean. Hundreds of ships, boats, aircrafts have disappeared here and till date, nobody knows what actually took place. Another weird thing about this place is that the compass here will point to the true North direction instead of the Earth’s magnetic north.
7. Skeleton Lake, Uttarakhand, India
Situated in the isolated Himalayas, this mysterious lake was the site where British forest guards found more than 200 frozen people. Initially it was thought that these were Japanese soldiers who had invaded the region during the WW II, however, scientists were able to prove that these skeletons were of 850 AD. What’s even more creepy is that they all had the same fatal injury – cracked skulls.
8. Yonaguni Pyramid, Japan
Discovered in the 1980s by divers, this is one of the highly mysterious and wondrous places on Earth. It appears to be a man made structure with sharp corners, terraces. Some, however, argue it is a natural phenomenon.
9. Aoukighara Forest, Japan
This is the eeriest place on Earth undoubtedly as the suicide rate here is the second highest in the world. Located at the foot of Mount Fuji, this creepy but beautiful forest is home of dead with reports of ghosts sighting, blood-curdling screams. Local legend is that this is a cursed forest which houses evil spirits which manipulate people to commit suicide.
10. South Atlantic Anomaly – Atlantic Ocean
The Bermuda Triangle of the space this is a spot hovering off Brazil’s coast which has been troublesome for aircrafts, spacecraft and satellites. The radiation band of Earth called inner Van Allen belt becomes very close to the planet’s surface here. Whenever international space station passes through here spacewalks are banned.
11. Stonehenge, England
Till date, nobody has been able to explain the reason behind the existence of these mysterious structures. One simply marvels at how these structures were built and erected. There are many theories like it’s a sacred burial place or a site of celestial alignments or a healing place.
12. Hoia Baciu Forest
A haunted forest, Hoia Baciu is situated in Romania and is one of the highly feared places of Earth. Those courageous to come here report feelings of anxiety, or constantly being watched, in addition to developing skin rashes, burning, vomiting, etc. Electronic devices don’t operate here. Locals believe this creepy forest is a gateway to another dimension, and it houses the haunted souls of Romanian peasants who were massacred here.
